RESPECT THE BALL.
A movement built on one belief: technical mastery is not a talent.
It is earned.
Respect The Ball is Techsoccer's technical development movement — launched after 15 years of technical skills coaching in Essex. It is not a badge scheme. It is not a reward for attendance. It is a standard.
Every player who walks into a TechSoccer session enters a programme designed around one question: how do we maximise purposeful ball contacts on named technical skills, and master them every single session, every single week.
THE SCIENCE
Built on Matthew Syed’s deliberate practice principles, our training focuses on quality repetitions of clearly defined skills—not just time spent. Every session is designed to maximise meaningful ball contacts and purposeful actions. It’s not about hours on the pitch—it’s about the right work, done the right way.
THE SYSTEM
Dynamic Ball mastery. 1v1. 2v1, 2v2 Duels, Small-sided game. This session structure allows for maximum ball contacts and repetitions. Repetition builds mastery.
THE STANDARD
White. Yellow. Black. Purple. Each colour earned by meeting a specific technical standard. Never given for just turning up.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR CHILD
— Named skills every session.
Your child is not just playing football. They are developing a specific technical vocabulary — named moves, named combos, developed unopposed & trained under pressure.
— A grading system they have to earn.
Progress is visible. It is tied to demonstrated technical ability, not time at the club or effort alone. They have to earn the right to progress.
— A code of conduct with real meaning.
Respect the ball. Respect the coaches. Respect the session. Respect each other. These are not slogans. They are the conditions of being part of this programme.
— Homework that actually works.
The session is once a week. The improvement happens daily. 15 minutes of named skill practice at home multiplies their development by a factor of six.
